June 2014 Release Wines

2013 Reserve Viognier

The grapes for our 2013 Estate Grown Reserve Viognier were carefully selected and hand-picked, gently whole cluster pressed and barrel fermented in neutral French oak barrels using a combination of two different yeasts. Floral notes of jasmine, lavender and fresh flowers dominate the nose, with the beautiful floral bouquet being backed by rich fruit aromas. The palate is ripe, rich, and round, all of which deliver a luscious mouthful and complex flavors of honeysuckle, pineapple, peach, citrus fruit and orange blossoms. While the Viognier in itself is fresh and clean, the barrel fermentation imparts another layer of creamy texture, which lends to its rich and lengthy finish. Pair this wine with the song Happy by Pharell and Elderflower Tomme cheese.

2012 Lemberger

This rich, fruit forward red is deep in color, showcasing a beautiful bouquet full of blueberries, blackberries, plum and hints of cedar and spice. The grapes for this bottling were hand selected from our Estate Vineyard, where it then receives limited aging in French oak to express and protect the gorgeous fruit profile and terrior of this fantastic vineyard site. Medium in body, this young, lively red is bright and balanced with its judicious amount of acidity weaving effortlessly though the lengthy finish. That lengthy finish is framed and supported by a full flavor profile of wild black currants, marionberry, rose petal and hints of dried herb. This wine also known as Blaufränkisch so we felt it pairs well with the German song De hast by Rammstein and Black Pepper Asiago cheese.

The finish is complex, yet velvety smooth with hints of currants, espresso, and spice, all backed up by solid tannins. Make no mistake; this is a big and bold wine. Duck Press Red has been hand-selected and blended by wine maker, Jarrod Boyle, and the award-winning vintners at Alexandria Nicole Cellars, in conjunction with the El Gaucho Hospitality wine team, and is produced and bottled for El Gaucho restaurants and the Mackay Restaurant group. This full bodied wine is a robust complement to the finest steaks and game meats, with its deep, saturated ruby-red color, and aromas of bright red fruit showing balance and purity with an integrated, yet subtle oak accent. An elegant entry of blackberry, lush black cherry, olive, cedar and crushed herbs lead the energized palate, while the sturdy tannins and focused acidity.
